I've been using Gaia GPS for a while now for road trips and hikes, and it's been a good experience so far. However, a few issues need to be addressed, the functionality is cumbersome to use. ie: You can't download a gpx file using the mobile app, and you can't delete tracks on the web interface. Also, being forced to pay for a very expensive premium subscription just to access basic offline maps is ridiculous. (Almost every other map app includes this free).

This used to be a good app. I am a premium member, and I can not log in anymore. I have contacted support. They are asking for a screenshot shot of my account. Every time I send it in, they block the image and tell me the email was empty. They just keep sending me the same email asking for a screenshot of my account. Broken record. Support tells me my account does not exist, but if I try to recreate the account the app says my account exists. Such a shame.

The app is great mostly. Discovery does not really exist on this so finding new spots or trails lacks. Navigation is not very user friendly as you have to do multiple clicks to try and find guiding or saving. The trail names are very difficult to read even when zoomed in. Wish it had auto switch from day or dark mode. Have to zoom in to try and click you exact spot to save instead of a button to just save where are. Would be nice to have colored waypoints to differentiate which is camp and not.

What’s new

This one's a mixed bag of fixes and tweaks!
- Trail guides now come with a proper disclaimer — no surprises here!
- Toyota icons are back to full strength. No more ghost icons.
- Track privacy now actually saves (what a concept!).
- "Delete" is now "Archive" — less scary, same effect.

Happy adventuring!
