About this app

This is an optional companion app to the ControlD.com DNS service. It allows you to start using any ControlD DNS resolver on your Android device with a single click.

This app is optional to use Control D, as we recommend the use of Private DNS feature in Android, as it requires no installed software.

Control D employs the Android VPN service to filter only DNS traffic and route it through the ControlD DNS service.

Unfortunately this app causes my network to completely stop working after about 30 mins. No amount of disabling battery saver settings helps. But control.D as a service works great. I use the "Private DNS" setting in my phone and it's perfect. the only reason I'd like the app is so that it works better with WiFi portals and disables on my home WiFi, but I can survive without that.

This is incredible for older devices that don't have Private DNS option. Also, the app practically has no drain on battery life. Great job guys. However, there's still that issue of losing Internet connection when phone goes to sleep. Which can be rectified by stopping and restarting but it's still an annoyance. Look into Intra app by Jigsaw. Compare app sizes too. Apart from that, can we have it on Android TV too please. Sideloading the phone app works but still needs a mouse for navigation.

Functions correctly regarding DNS blocking, but the 'exclude network' feature does not work. On my home network we have AdGuard Home set up with more extensive filters, so this is not required. If I add the SSID of our WiFi to the 'exclude' list however, DNSLeak still reports ControlD as the only DNS used and the app doesn't mention it being inactive on our network. This needs to be fixed as it's the only gesture missing from Android's own Private DNS integration (network exclusion).
