The Gemini app is an AI assistant. If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.
The Gemini app is available only on Android phones with 2 GB of RAM or more, running Android 10 and up.
This official app is free of charge. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarise and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Use text, voice, photos, and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights
If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.

I had an update on my phone. it prompted me to try making an 8-second video through Gemini advanced. I tried it once but now I'm stuck in the make video mode. it won't go back to being able to carry on. at the conversation with the AI I've contacted support. nobody can seem to figure this out now. my Gemini that I paid $20 a month for is now stuck in the video mode and that's all it can do. very frustrated

AI features are good. The reason I gave it 3 starts has to do more with the interface and the technical aspects of the app itself. I used to be able to cue Gemini from swiping to the middle of the screen from the bottom right corner on my Galaxy S24 Ultra. That feature has been taken away, by Google or Samsung, I'm not sure. The other feature I would like to see is a speed setting for Gemini's voice response. I'd like Gemini's voice response to be faster than what it is.

I like the app, but I wish it could be use along side the Doc's like on the laptop. Also, when you are trying to work out a story indetail, there needs to be a way to store a summary that sits to the side so the AI can keep trying at important story beats. lastly, if Gemini can not just read from Doc's but also be able to save whole body's of work in real time as you go along as an option, would be nice.
